Frauke Berndt

Frauke Berndt, PhD Goethe University, is Full Professor for German Literature at the University of Zurich. Having received her Habilitation from the Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, she holds positions there and in Tübingen. She was Visiting Professor at the University of Chicago, Indiana University, University of Oregon, and Vanderbilt University. Her research focuses on German literary history of the 18th and 19th century, mainly rhetoric, aesthetics, and poetics as well as literary theory and gender studies. She is head of the research group ETHOS that investigates ethical practices in 18th century aesthetic theory. Currently, she works on a monograph Facing Poetry – A. G. Baumgarten’s Literary Theory (forthcoming with de Gruyter in 2020).
