Elena Chestnova
Elena Chestnova is a researcher at the Institute for the History and Theory of Art and Architecture at the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio, Università  della Svizzera italiana. She completed her doctoral thesis on Gottfried Semper and material culture in mid-nineteenth century London in 2017 and her book on this subject will be published in 2021 (Material Theories: Gottfried Semper and Things of the Mid-Nineteenth Century. London: Routledge). Her current research interests cover nineteenth-century popular art education, material culture and artistic nationalism in Europe, and Victorian lecturing.Â
