Karin Peters
Karin Peters, since 2023, she holds the chair of Roman Studies with special emphasis on the Iberoromania, at the University of Bonn. She received her MA and PhD in Comparative Literatures from LMU Munich and has been teaching Spanish and French literatures at Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz since 2008, specializing in Early Modern Spanish drama and poetry, literary theory, and Latin American modern and contemporary novels. She has published two monographs: Der gespenstische Souverän. Opfer und Autorschaft im 20. Jahrhundert (München: Fink, 2013) and Con terrible y fiero desear. Bukolisches Pathos in Spanien (1492–1559) (Paderborn: Brill, 2023). Her current research projects are concerned with comic personae, a transnational literary history of Spanish Golden Age literature, Affect & Facial Studies, the invention of the European sentimental subject, and masculinity in political narratives.Â
